Safety Supervisor

Decatur, AL


This position will lead the site OH&S performance through strategic planning and tactical execution that will enable the site to achieve regulatory compliance, change mindsets and behaviors, and advance ESSH program performance. 


·         Facilitates and/or coordinates incident and near miss investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up

·         Provides trend analysis of hazard recognition, near misses, and incidents

·         Provides technical expertise and consultation on pre-job planning, accident prevention, regulatory compliance, job safety analysis, hazard management, behavior modification, site safety work permitting, and auditing programs

·         Leads OH&S excellence in GHS, VPP STAR, NFPA, Radiation Safety, and RCMS14001 programs

·         Conducts PPE, ergonomic and health risk assessments and exposure monitoring

·         Develops and executes compliance/improvement strategies

·         Ensures OH&S management systems and operational disciplines are robust across the site for all onsite personnel (both employees and contractors)

·         Maintains job physical requirements and conducts physical assessments for the site as may be required

·         Serve as a Company liaison to contractors to ensure contractor safety programs are in compliance with site requirements.



·         Bachelor degree or higher in Safety, Engineering, or related technical discipline required

·         Minimum 8 to 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years relevant experience in Chemical, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas Industry

·         OSHA VPP (SGE) program preferred

·         Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred

·         Certified Safety Professional preferred

·         Radiation Safety Officer preferred

·         HAZ WOPPER Certified preferred




·         Strong computer skills required including MS Office Products and use of SAP

·         Demonstrated advanced knowledge of OSHA safety regulations, ANSI standards, and other safety practices

·         Demonstrated and proactive leadership and team building skills

·         Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization

·         Demonstrated change management experience/mindset

·         Working knowledge of PSM and Incident Analysis (Why-Tree & FMEA) tools

·         Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task

·         Demonstrated and strong influence and decision-making skills

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Demonstrated commitment to delivering customer success
