POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer is to run the unit safely, reliably, and efficiently. The manufacturing engineer is responsible for unit operating performance to include production, raw material usage, energy usage, quality, daily performance tracking, troubleshooting, and basic unit optimization. The manufacturing engineer adds direct value to the business by driving real-time unit performance in these areas.
Minimum 5 years post-graduation experience working in a Chemical processing or petrochemical manufacturing plant.
TARGETED OUTCOMES:
Drive unit performance to operational entitlement with respect to yields, usages, reliability, and quality
Achieve annual operating productivity targets by maintaining a unit performance tracking program
Maintain accurate accounting of all unit production losses and drive actions to correct
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor unit performance by tracking key process indicators (KPI’s) and key operating parameters (KOP’s)
Maintenance of performance tracking tools to include set point or target changes
Basic troubleshooting and optimization of the process to address gaps identified through daily performance monitoring
Interface with production engineering to:
Optimize the current process using operational entitlement models
Implement advanced performance tracking tools
Implement new technology projects
Execute annual productivity plans
Escalate technical issues which are too complex to handle within the unit
Interface with process engineering to:
Initiate projects to improve the process
Escalate technical issues which require advanced modelling
Accounting and categorization of daily production losses
Drive targeted actions in response to performance gaps in KPI’s as well as production losses
Assist in tracking of unit regulatory compliance
Facilitation of MOCs originating from unit needs
Lead or assist in delivering technical training to operators
Assist with production planning, tracking, and closing
Maintain unit process safety information (PSI)
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
BS or MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
Strong working knowledge of ASPEN products, heat transfer, hydraulics, etc.
Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) (PHA) Safety (LOPA)
Working knowledge of Environmental Controls and Utilities
Experience with MOC (Management Of Change)
Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to innovate and solve complex problems
Willingness to provide after-hours support
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to perform in a highly dynamic work environment
