Job Summary: Plant Engineering Manager

The Plant Engineering Manager has primary responsibility for supervising the Maintenance Department activities. This includes direct supervision of all Maintenance Technicians, mechanical and electrical along with managing continuous improvement projects, preventative maintenance programs, building and facility maintenance, and site environmental compliance activities. Provides technical and process engineering leadership for both ongoing manufacturing operations and the development of new products and processes. Lead capital projects to ensure they are implemented within budget and time schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Lead the search and development for new processes, materials, equipment, and procedures to enhance manufacturing productivity, quality, and safety. Must stay informed of new manufacturing technologies, equipment, and processes and evaluate their potential applications.

2. Assist in the development and implementation of the annual capital budget. Capital budget development work to be performed in conjunction and coordination with other department managers as applicable to insure all capital requirements are included.

3. Lead the implementation of the capital plan and oversee all projects from planning, purchasing, installation, and start up.

4. Provide engineering expertise and guidance for equipment modifications, repairs, and upgrades.

5. Develop RFQ’s, bid specifications and documents, and accurate cost estimates for assigned projects.

6. Effectively work with plant staff and contractors for the implementation of assigned projects and maintenance activities within budget and schedule.

7. Analyze equipment failures, determine root causes, recommend recovery plans, and impost cost effective solutions to prevent reoccurrence.

8. Provides plant management with timely and accurate information regarding policies, guidelines, and external events impacting the plant.

9. Maintain and develop plant drawings, standards and procedures as appropriate.

10. Supervise Maintenance Technicians to minimize downtime and increase efficiencies throughout the plant.

11. Maintain and manage spare parts inventory to ensure that there are no production interruptions as to the result of equipment failure.

12. Focus on process improvements to facilitate existing equipment running at its maximum potential; recommend new equipment to increase line efficiency.

13. Maintain the grounds and building to provide a professional grade working environment.

14. Design all preventive maintenance programs in coordination with maintenance and engineering staff.

15. Perform regular audits on equipment and facility to ensure that safety practices and policies are met. Work safely and ensure all maintenance workers on assigned projects are following all applicable EHS policies and procedures.

16. Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Manager or President.

17. Knowledgeable in the effective use of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and concepts to assist in process improvements, both within the company, and externally at our customers/suppliers. Serve as an active participant in LSS programs that promote continuous improvement

18. Manages, develops, trains, coaches, and evaluates direct reports.

Other:

· Must adhere to all company and location policies and safety rules

· Must be able to work extended hours when required

· All other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

· Strong Technical Experience with Nonwovens technology such as; cards, needle looms, calendars, and tenter frames.

· Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Plant Engineer

· Strong Technical experience with Siemens and Lenze based controls (G120, S110, S120 Drives)

· Project management experience

· Ability to function within cross-functional Teams, utilizing good communication skills and a “hands–on” approach within all projects.

· Ability to implement, manage and direct TPM activities in the maintenance area of the facility.

· Must be a strong “trouble-shooter” with a working knowledge of Hand-tools and Maintenance practices.

· Well versed in MS Office and CAD software and applications.

· Ability to implement, manage and direct TPM activities in the maintenance area of the facility.

Additional Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

· Knowledge of Lean, Six-Sigma or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) doctrines.

· Experience working with customers on problem resolution

· Formal training in project management

· Technical knowledge of Industrial Networking including but not limited to Ethernet, RS 232 /485, and CANBUS protocols (i.e., DEVICENET, PROFIBUS, etc,…)

· Competent PC Programming skills including but not limited to VB,C++, and JAVA

· Requires strong interpersonal, communications, and leadership skills in order to coordinate and accomplish objectives through other involved Company personnel and contractors.
